COMMON TOUGHENED GLASS PROBLEMS WE CAN REPAIR:
Toughened glass, otherwise known as safety glass or tempered glass, offers a tougher structure to normal glass so it’s more difficult to break and when it does break, it shatters into tiny pieces, rather than large shards which could cause significant damage.
Toughened glass sometimes shatters, seemingly without reason. The most common reasons to replace or install toughened glass is:
• Microscopic internal defects, such as nickel sulphide inclusions can cause glass to shatter
• Tiny imperfections during installation, such as chipped edges can develop into large breaks
• Window frame is too tight, not allowing glass to expand and contract
• Burglary or break-in damage
• Glass has shattered
• Faulty manufacturing or installation
• Damaged glass caused by stones flicked from lawnmowers
• General wear & tear
• Install for windows in areas you could trip, as it’s much safer
